GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS SECURITY SOLUTIONS
LOCKSMITH SERVICES, ACCESS CONTROL AND SECURITY SYSTEM INSTALLATION
About Government Security
While security is important for all buildings, it’s particularly important for government buildings. These areas are more likely to be targets of attacks or theft and are more likely to house sensitive information that must be protected. This is why The Flying Locksmiths appropriate access control system is so important for government-related buildings.

SECURITY SOLUTIONS FOR GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS
While security is important for all buildings, it’s particularly important for schools and government buildings. These areas are more likely to be targets of attacks or theft and are more likely to house sensitive information that must be protected. This is why an appropriate access control system is so important for government-related buildings.
UNDERSTANDING ACCESS CONTROL
What exactly do we mean by an access control system? This is a security system that offers a comprehensive plan to protect all the access points in a building — typically doors and windows, yes, but access control also takes into account hallways, emergency access points, and electronic systems so that you can control who can enter no matter what the situation is.
For government-level security and access control, there are several effective features that we can incorporate into your building. If it’s been years since your last significant physical security update, we suggest taking a look at these best practices.
Electronic Cards, Key Cards and ID Badges
Electronic cards unlock doors and provide access, either through a proximity sensor or a card reader. Today’s security cards are very effective, and can easily be programmed to offer limited access on a card-by-card basis. They are also difficult or impossible copy, unlike physical keys and older card systems. These systems can also create valuable records of which card was used to access specific entry points, and at what time.
Turnstiles
Turnstiles are a simple method to mandate security in high-traffic areas. They can be activated with cards or via other requirements (and today’s versions come with plenty of accessibility options for the disabled). This option can be an effective way to partially block access for better security management without making the process too time-consuming.
Mantraps
A mantrap is typically any security process where you have to close the previous entrance before the next entry will open. It’s an ancient but very effective method to restrict access to sensitive information and make sure that if theft or attack happens, the perpetrator will not be able to escape. Common mantraps in government buildings are secured rooms that separate low-security halls from high-security areas (databanks, weapons lockers, and so on).
Electronic Locking Devices
These are security locks that are operated by electronic systems. They include independent setup or backup features for protection and are harder to force past or “cheat” than traditional locks. Ideally, government buildings should upgrade any traditional locks to electronic versions that can be programmed for specific options and offer more security for today’s buildings.
Biometric Scanning
The most advanced systems often augment or replace card readers, and use full biometric systems including fingerprints, facial detection, and iris scanning. This is an even more effective method of control for the most sensitive areas in the building.
